The Bekaa Governorate ( Arabic محافظة البقاع muhafazat al-Biqa ' , DMG muḥāfaẓa al-Biqāʿ ) is one of eight governorates in Lebanon with a population of around 750,000 people.

The Bekaa governorate covers an area of 4,429 km² and encloses the Bekaa plain in the east of Lebanon and lies between Lebanon and anti-Lebanon . The area is crossed by three rivers: the Litani , the Jordan and the Orontes and is the most important agricultural area in Lebanon.
The annual average temperatures range from −10 to 35 ° C with sometimes extensive rain and snowfall in winter. The places Zahlé , Niha , Anjar , Qab Elias , Kfar Zabad , Karaon Dam , Chtaura and Furzul are the main tourist destinations. The governorate lies on the old trade route between Lebanon and Syria . The area is known as a wine region and for its cuisine.
