The Singapore Cup 2016 was the 19th edition of the football - cup competition for Singaporean club teams . A total of twelve teams are taking part this season. The defending champion was Albirex Niigata .
The cup tournament began on May 26, 2016 with the preliminary round and ended on November 25, 2016 with the final.

A total of twelve teams play in this year's cup. All nine clubs from the S. League as well as three invited clubs from Cambodia and the Philippines take part.
