Harold John Blackham
Harold John Blackham (born March 31, 1903 in Birmingham , † January 23, 2009 in Hereford ) was a British humanist . As a writer, he dealt with philosophy and history .
Life
Blackham was initially a member of the Ethical Union . He played an important role in its transfer to the British Humanist Association , whose first executive director he became in 1963. He was also a founding member of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), of which he was managing director from 1952 to 1966. He received the International Humanist Award (1974) and the Special Award for Service to World Humanism (1978) from the IHEU.
