HD 93129A is a super giant with 80 times the mass of our sun and with two and a half million times the luminosity one of the brightest stars in the Milky Way . The system is a spectroscopic binary star and consists of 2 stars of the spectral class O, which is about 7,500 light years away from Earth . The surface temperature of the lighter component is around 51,000 Kelvin . The system is part of the open star cluster Trumpler 14 in the Carina Nebula , relatively close to Eta Carinae in the southern sky .
