HEINE Optotechnik is a global manufacturer of medical and technical diagnostic instruments. The company was founded in 1946 by the German physicist Helmut A. Heine and has been family-owned since then. The company's headquarters are in Herrsching am Ammersee , southwest of Munich .

A special feature of the company is the high level of vertical integration: from the first idea to the finished product, almost all production steps are carried out in-house. Heine specializes in product groups such as otoscopes , ophthalmoscopes , dermatoscopes , magnifying glasses , laryngoscopes , stethoscopes , proctological instruments , endoscopes and fiber optic examination lights. The company is the world's largest exporter of hand-held primary diagnostic instruments and the world market leader in this segment. The company employs a total of 550 people in Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Canada, Australia and Scandinavia, around 440 in Germany, 340 of them in Herrsching and 100 in Zorn on Lake Constance. There are more than 5,000 sales outlets for Heine products worldwide, the export quota is approx. 80%.
