The Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC , abbreviated internally HMIN , is a subsidiary of Honda with its headquarters in Greensburg , Indiana for the assembly of automobiles . Founded on March 19, 2007 for the 25th anniversary of our own automobile production in the USA , see the corresponding article about the Honda of America Mfg. , around 1,000 people are currently employed here. Work at the plant began on October 9, 2008.

The current product line of the plant includes the Honda Civic as a notchback sedan as well as its GX variant, which uses natural gas as fuel . This version has been available in the USA since 1998 and has become a figurehead of the Japanese brand with the new, more environmentally friendly thinking of customers. The annual capacity of the plant is 85,700 units.

With regard to the procurement of green electricity and the use of wood from the nearby Forest Stewardship Council to heat the hall, the plant received an award from the Green Building Certification Institute . After two years of production, the HMIN received the second award, LEED certification , which is based on the successful use of various recycling technologies.
