The HMS Bore is a Swedish ferry .
It was built in 1966 as an artillery transport ferry by the Åsiverken shipyard in Åmål and delivered to Blekinge kustartilleriförsvar ( German literally: Blekinge coastal artillery defense ) in autumn . The new ferry was intended to replace a ship of the same name that had been in service with the military since 1910.
commitment
The ship was used as a military ferry from 1966 to around 1990 to operate the ferry connection from Karlskrona across the island of Aspö to the fortress island of Kungsholms fort , which has existed since the 16th century and is located west of the island of Tjurkö . The fortress island was the training center of the Karlskrona kustartilleriregemente KA 2 from 1902 to 2000 .
Until the new Aspöfärjan was put into operation in 1980, the ship was given other tasks, including the transport of building materials for the Ellenabben batteries on Aspö and Järnavik on Harö and Tärnö, which were built between 1969 and 1971 . Due to these tasks, the ship was manned in two shifts for most of the time, as the connection was operated at least three times a day.
From 1990, when the Bore on the route mentioned was replaced by the sister ship HMS Heimdal , built a year later , the ship served as a military transport vehicle and as a target ship for torpedo attempts. This mission lasted until 2006.
In 2006 the Bore was sold to John Staaling in Viborg , Denmark , who has been offering the ship for sale since 2016. In August 2017 the ship was out of service in Svendborg .
