HMS Southampton
Several ships of the British Royal Navy were named (HMS) Southampton after the English city of Southampton
- The first Southampton was a fourth tier warship with 48 guns. It was launched in 1693, rebuilt in 1700, converted into a Hulk in 1728 and scrapped in 1771.
- The second HMS Southampton was a fifth-ranked warship frigate with 32 guns. It was launched in 1757 and was lost in 1812 in a shipwreck in the Bahamas.
- The third HMS Southampton was a fourth tier ship of the line with 60 guns. It was launched in 1820, loaned to the Hull Committee in 1867 and sold in 1912.
- The fourth HMS Southampton was a Town-class small armored cruiser or light cruiser from 1910. It was launched in 1912, took part in the Battle of the Skagerrak in 1916 and was sold for scrapping in 1927.
- The fifth HMS Southampton was a light cruiser of the Town class of 1936. She ran 1936 from the pile, took part in numerous operations in World War II and sank in 1941 east of Malta after bomb hits.
- The sixth HMS Southampton is a destroyer of the Type 42 . It was launched in 1979 and is currently still in active service.
