HSV Avalanche XUV

The HSV Avalanche XUV is a pickup with double cab manufactured by Holden Special Vehicles based on the Holden Crewman Cross8 . The HSV Avalanche combination model was made on the basis of the Holden Adventra LX8 .

Both vehicles were produced in two series, in 2004 as the Y series (the station wagon was available from 10-11 / 2003) and in 2005 as the Z series (April – December 2005). As with the all-wheel drive Holden vehicles of the VY series, the vehicles of the Z series built from September 2004 to March 2005 look similar and have their chassis numbers, although technically they belong to the Y series, since the rear-wheel drive Holden VZ was built at this time . Like the Holden four-wheel drive vehicles based on the Holden Commodore , the Avalanche was no longer manufactured in 2006 because the 5.7 l V8 LS1 engine could no longer be manufactured due to the new emissions regulations.

The HSV Avalanche was exclusively equipped with the 5.7 l V8 engine LS1 from GM with 270 bhp (199 kW) output and 475 Nm torque and a four-speed automatic transmission from GM. The permanent four-wheel drive delivered 62% of the power to the rear wheels, which gave the car a driving experience like a rear- wheel drive car.

The Z-series differs significantly from the Y-series, as it has a front bumper in a new shape, which looks less aggressive and integrates the additional lights better.
