The Technical college Wien 3, alternatively: Technical college Wien 3 Rennweg, Short Form: HTL Rennweg (until 2000: Technical college Wien IV, shortly HTBL Wien IV ) is a Technical college at Rennweg 89B in the third Viennese district highway . The school's gym, the former riding hall of the Rennweg barracks , is a listed building .

The school currently has around 1060 students, with around 7% women.

Training offer

At the HTL Rennweg, the higher department for information technology with a focus on “network technology” and “internet and media technology”, as well as the higher department for mechatronics with the training focus “automation” are set up. The five-year training courses are completed with the school leaving examination ( Matura ). There is also a three and a half year technical college for information technology with an internship.

history

The original school was founded in 1925 in the Vienna Arsenal as the Arsenal electrical and mechanical engineering school of the Society for Work Technology. From 1935 this was housed in Argentinierstrasse 11 in the fourth Viennese district of Wieden . Presumably in 1939 , the institution, which was founded as a private school, was converted into a state school and later became the Higher Technical College Vienna IV (HTBLA Vienna IV). A department for mechanical engineering was set up with the HTL mechanical engineering and a four-year technical school for mechanical engineering as well as a department for electrical engineering.

After extensive renovation and reconstruction of the Rennweg barracks on the Rennweg in Vienna, the former HTBL Vienna IV was able to move there. This also involved the change of name to the Technical College Vienna 3 (HTL Rennweg) .
