Haaretz Group

The Haaretz Group ( Hebrew קבוצת הארץ) is a media company run by publisher Amos Schocken based in Tel Aviv , Israel .

history

The group was founded by Salman Schocken in 1935 when he bought the daily Haaretz . From 1939 to 1990 the group was led by his son Gershom Schocken until his death. Since then, his son Amos has been running the company again, which the Schocken family owned for a long time . In August 2006, M. DuMont Schauberg Verlag (M. DuMont Schauberg Expedition der Kölnische Zeitung GmbH & Co. KG) acquired 25% of the group in the form of a direct investment, increasing the value of the company to 100 million euros. Today the group is the second largest media company in Israel by revenue.
