The Haarmühle is a listed secular building at Beßlinghook 57 in Alstätte , a village in the municipality of Ahaus in the Borken district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The watermill on the Dutch border was first mentioned in a document in 1331. There is evidence that it was in possession of the bishop in 1350. The building on the Alstätter Aa was built in 1619. A renovation by Peter Pictorius d. J. is attested by an inscription on the coat of arms of Prince-Bishop Clemens August.

The half-timbered building with brick infill stands on a solid stone base . The anchor beam construction was made with curved lugs .
