The Haas Group (Holding: Haas GmbH & Co Beteiligungs KG), based in Falkenberg in Lower Bavaria, is a Europe-wide group of companies in the construction industry. The largest business area is prefabricated timber construction with the Haas prefabricated construction brand.

history

In 1972, Xaver Haas acquired a carpenter's workshop in Falkenberg, Lower Bavaria, and initially concentrated on wood construction and the production of wooden silos for agriculture. The first Haas prefabricated house was built in 1973. In the same year, the introduction of nail plate trusses accelerated the roofing of large areas and made it easier to manufacture and assemble roof structures for halls. In 1973 the first Haas prefabricated house was produced and assembled.

In 1982 the foundation stone for Haas Prefabricated Construction in Austria was laid. Xaver Haas bought the company premises in Großwilfersdorf with the office and production buildings on it. The main focus of the company was initially on agricultural buildings and wooden structures. Over the years Haas Prefab has developed into a full-range supplier for prefabricated houses, commercial and agricultural buildings, multi-storey residential buildings and wooden structures of all kinds. In 1984, the industrial and commercial building division was installed. Over the years, Haas has increasingly acted as a general contractor in this segment and also took over large subcontractors. In 1988, the production of glued laminated timber began in Falkenberg , which was required for both commercial and agricultural buildings, but at the same time expanded the range of products for cooperating carpentry companies . Haas opened the construction store on the company premises in Falkenberg in 1989 as a construction center for end customers in the field of new buildings and renovations with a large exhibition of construction elements, stairs and floor coverings.

In 1994 Haas entered the Czech timber and prefabricated house market with the takeover of a technical timber construction company. For the 25th company anniversary, the new administration and sales building was moved into. At that time, part of the new area also included three model houses at the site and a 3,000 m² sampling center. In 1998 the portfolio was expanded to include a foundation construction department, which since then has been creating substructures for agricultural buildings, especially in the agricultural sector. In 2000, the construction of a wood pellet press with a capacity of 2.5 to 3 tons per hour for refining wood shavings into fuel began. The new line of business “building in existing buildings” was added in 2003, with a focus on extensions and additions in the region. As general contractor, Haas Prefabricated Construction built the Olympic Village for the Winter Games in Turin in 2005 . In the same year, the first Haas zero-energy office building was built in Austria.

2013 saw the generation change in the Haas Group management. The company's founder, Xaver Haas, withdrew from the operational management and handed over the management to his children Tanja, Katharina and Xaver Alexander, who prepared a strategic return to the roots over the next few years. At the beginning of 2015, the family had appointed a managing director Rainer Hribar to head the company. Since then, the group has been developed further together with the generation of young people, who have taken on management tasks in the organization, and the management team of the companies. At the end of 2015, the company withdrew from the building elements business and in 2016/2017 the vertical range of manufacture, which is atypical for a timber construction company, was given up with the sale of the wood industry activities. The focus is now on the core business of construction management with expansion of the house construction, commercial and agricultural construction business areas and the development of the new business areas of kits and multi-storey construction.

Since the first Haas house was built in 1973, the entire Haas Group has built around 30,000 prefabricated houses.

Business areas

  • Prefabricated houses and prefabricated buildings: bungalows , semi-detached houses or single-family houses - Haas Haus offers various options for the prefabricated house. With the use of natural building materials such as wood , thermal insulation and regenerative heating technology, the standard KfW Efficiency House 40 is offered as standard.
  • Industrial and commercial buildings: Haas Gewerbebau builds office buildings, warehouses or physiotherapy practices through to multi-storey wooden buildings. In 2016, Haas built the first multi-storey wooden clinic of this type in Germany. Great importance is attached to sustainability in commercial buildings, which is why wood is an elementary component in all building projects. With the help of photovoltaic systems on industrial halls, for example, solar radiation can be converted into natural electricity.
  • Agricultural construction: At Haas Agricultural Construction, stables, halls and riding facilities are built.
  • Housing
