Habib Moctar

Habib Moctar (born December 9, 1950 in Zinder , † May 15, 1994 in the arrondissement of Birni-N'Konni ) was a Nigerien politician .

Life

Habib Moctar attended elementary and middle school in his hometown of Zinder. He worked as a trader. From the beginning of the 1990s he became politically active in the Democratic and Social Assembly party (CDS-Rahama), in whose section Zinder Department he took over the chairmanship. Moctar was sent as employer representative to the national conference, which met from July to November 1991. The National Conference took over the leadership and prepared Niger's transition to a multi-party system . Habib Moctar was the first deputy treasurer on the nine-member Presidium of the National Conference. From November 1991 to April 1993 he was a member of the High Council of the Republic, the transitional parliament after the National Conference.

Moctar was elected in the parliamentary elections on February 14, 1993 in the constituency of Zinder as a member of the CDS-Rahama in the National Assembly. From April 1993 he was chairman of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs. He died about a year later in a traffic accident on National Road 1 near Birni-N'Konni .
