The Bonelli's eagle ( Hieraaetus ) are a genus of birds of prey from the family of the hawk-like (Accipitridae). The genus includes 6 species that occur in Africa , the tropical to temperate regions of Eurasia and Australia . According to molecular genetic studies , the genus does not represent a monophyletic taxon, the species of the genus are therefore mostly assigned to the genus Aquila today.
