Hacibala Abutalibov

Hacıbala İbrahim oğlu Abutalıbov ( Russian Гаджибала Абуталыбов / Gadschibala Abutalybow ; born May 13, 1944 in Krasnovodsk , Turkmen SSR ) is an Azerbaijani physicist and politician and has been mayor of Baku since 2001 .

life and career

Abutalıbov was born in 1944 in Krasnovodsk in what is now Turkmenistan . He studied physics at Baku State University and graduated in 1965. From 1969 he was enrolled at the Physico-Technical Institute " AF Joffe " of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Leningrad . In 1976 he received his doctorate there. In the 1980s he conducted research in Baku in the field of semiconductor technology . In 1995 he became the head of the physics laboratory of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences . In the same year he became district manager of the Baku district of Suraxanı, in this position he remained until 1999. In 2000 Abutalıbov was Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. Since January 30, 2001 he has been the incumbent mayor of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Abutalıbov is married and has two children.
