Chopping (cooking)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As hacking refers to a preparation method of food production.

Chopping means dividing food by roughly chopping it using a wedge effect. Typical is the use of kitchen and cleavers and fly knives when working on bones and meat .

The chopping of herbs and vegetables is also called chopping, whereby the degree of chopping varies. Most of the time, the chopping of herbs and sometimes vegetables is actually done with the help of a chopping knife  - or a chef's knife used as a chopping knife  - with a curved knife blade that is rocked back and forth on the product to be cut (see also weighing ) .
