Hacride is a French progressive death metal band from Poitiers that was formed in 2001. The name of the band is a modification of the English word acrid (German: 'caustic', 'biting'). As usual in French , the added characters H and e at the beginning and end of the word remain silent. Despite the French pronunciation, the word has no meaning in this language.

history

The band was formed in 2001 by bassist Benoist Danneville, guitarist Adrien Grousset, singer Samuel Bourreau and drummer Olivier Laffond. In 2003 they released their first promo CD called Cyanide Echoes , which was produced by Matthieu Metzger .

In 2005 the band appeared on the compilation Revolution Calling by Listenable Records with the song "The Daily Round". That same year they also recorded their debut album called Deviant Current Signal and released it through Listenable Records. To promote the album, the Deviant Tours I & II followed through France and Switzerland . They also took part in the VS Fest II in Paris on May 28, 2006.

In 2007 the second album Amoeba was recorded. It was produced by Frank Hueso and co-produced by the band members.

Hacride released the third album Lazarus on April 20, 2009.

style

The band is compared to other bands like Meshuggah , Textures or Strapping Young Lad . Characteristic for the works of the band are the complex playing style and the change between different passages, which differ greatly in melody, tempo and dynamics.
