Textures was a metal band from Tilburg, the Netherlands . Their style was shaped by polyrhythmics , but increasingly also by melodic elements in the course of their existence. The band itself described their style as "Polyrhythmic Metal Madness".

history

Textures was founded in 2001 in Tilburg. Their first release followed in 2003 with the self-produced album Polars , through which the label Listenable Records became aware of the band. They received the Dutch Essent Award , which is given to young musicians, and appeared in a commercial for Nokia .

After Eric Kalsbeek had replaced the singer Pieter Verpaalen, Textures recorded their second work Drawing Circles in 2006 . The following year, bassist Remko Tielemans joined the band for Dennis Aarts, who dropped out due to illness. Textures hit the Dutch sales charts for the first time in 2008 with Silhouettes . The Dutch broadcaster VPRO included their title Awake in their compilation VPRO Song of the Year 2008 .

At the beginning of 2010 singer Eric Kalsbeek left the band for personal reasons, in March Daniel de Jongh was signed as a replacement. In the same year keyboardist Richard Rietdijk left the band, he was replaced by Uri Dijk. In 2011 the fourth studio album Dualism was released on the Nuclear Blast label .

In 2016 Textures released the album Phenotype . The following year, the members announced that they were breaking up the band for personal reasons.
