Tomb complex of Haji Bektash

The Haji-Bektash complex ( Turkish: Hacı Bektaş Veli Külliyesi ) is a building complex in the Hacıbektaş district of the Turkish province of Nevşehir . It consists of a dervish lodge ( tekke or dergâh) and the mausoleum ( Türbe ) of the mystic ( Arabic ولي, DMG walī , Turkish veli , God friend ' ) Hajji Bektasch . He is considered to be the founder of the Islamic religion of the Alevis and namesake of the Bektashi community.

Due to Law No. 677 of the Turkish government under the state founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk , the building was secularized in 1927; two years earlier the world center of the Bektashi order was relocated to Albania . The complex has been used as a museum since 1964 and has been on the UNESCO tentative list as a world heritage site since 2012 .

In the 13th century, Hajji Bektash founded the dervish lodge. Through further modifications and additions, the building complex was given its present form, which essentially dates from the 16th century. The museum had a total of around 470,000 visitors in 2014 and is the sixth most visited museum in Turkey. With a Cem ritual approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Turkish Republic with a special permit, the first service took place in this tekke in July 2015 after 188 years.

Part of the Turkish unauthorized Star Wars adaptation Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam from 1982 ("Turkish Star Wars"), which is known among film buffs , was shot in the Hajji-Bektash complex; the Turkish “ Obi-Wan Kenobi ” serves here as the imam of the mosque and gives a speech to actor Cüneyt Arkın (in the film Murat ).
