Hacıbektaş (formerly Sulucakarahöyük ) is a small town and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the province of Nevşehir in inland Turkey .
etymology
Hacıbektaş owes its name to the Muslim Sufi mystic Hajji Bektash , who lived and worked there in the second half of the 13th century. His tomb is there and is a place of pilgrimage for Alevis .
geography
The small town is north-northwest of Nevşehir. Until then it is approx. 45 km, to Kırşehir approx. 42 km, to Kayseri approx. 90 km and to Ankara approx. 230 km. The city is on the D765 trunk road, which runs south towards Niğde. According to Siegel, the city was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) as early as 1854 .
The county was founded in 1948 in the province of Kırşehir and moved to this new province after the formation of the province of Nevşehir. The district is in the northwest of this and borders on Kozaklı District in the north, Avanos District in the east and Gülşehir District in the south. In the west, the Mucur district ( Kırşehir province ) forms the provincial border. In addition to the district town, the district consists of 30 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 212 residents. Karaburna is the largest village and has 1,115 inhabitants. With 15.3 (inh. Per km²) it is the most sparsely populated district in the province.
The circle is on average about 1250 meters high. The highest point is the mountain Kırlangıç with approx. 1720 m.
economy
The main source of income is obtained from agriculture ; Wheat , barley , lentils , chickpeas and sugar beet are grown . The second most important branch of the economy is animal breeding .
Attractions
In addition to the memorials for the Alevi saint in the district town, the late Hittite rock inscription from Karaburna near the place of the same name about ten kilometers southwest of Hacıbektaş is worth seeing.
