The Hafenbahn Halle-Trotha runs in the urban area of Halle (Saale) and connects the railway Halle-Halberstadt Deutsche Bahn at station Halle-Trotha with the Hafenhalle and the local freight village or the container terminal Halle (Saale). The tracks are standard gauge designed. The port railway reaches the quays to the right and left of the port basin, the industrial area, the Saalkai, the container terminal Halle / Saale (CTHS) and several grain stores. There is also a locomotive shed there. The immobile systems belong to Stadtwerke Halle GmbH . The port railway has three diesel locomotives (a class 228 , a class 232 and a MaK 1200 D (formerly OHE)), with which, among other things, the port railway and route services are carried out. A DR series V 15 locomotive was sold.
