Hafenmarkt 7 (Esslingen)
The Hafenmarkt 7 building in Esslingen am Neckar , also known as the Burgermeisterisches Haus , is a building from the early 18th century.
history
The cellar has been preserved from a previous building that was destroyed in a city fire. Above it, the councilor of Esslingen and later mayor Paul Burgermeister from Deizisau had a two-story residential building built in 1702, which was increased by one story for Ferdinand Schreiber in 1859 . The publishing house founded by Jakob Ferdinand Schreiber operated its graphic printing company in the building from 1837 to 1872. After that, the composer Christian Fink lived in the house until 1911 . In 1977/78 the building was connected to the neighboring building at Hafenmarkt 9 ; From 1987 to 1989 the city museum was rebuilt and set up .
Erected in half-timbered construction, the house looks like a stone building because of the plastered blocks at the corners and the drilled window frames. It has a baroque portal with a split gable and cartilage cartouche , which is provided with the monogram "S" and the year 1802 and refers to the then owner of the house, Christian Gottlieb Schöllkopf.
On the first floor the rooms are arranged in an enfilade ; in the northwest corner is a hall. The stucco ceiling from the time the house was built is decorated with allegorical depictions of the four seasons and in the four corners with imperial eagles. The central aisle has neo-baroque door frames and is covered with decorative panels from the second half of the 19th century.
