Hagbarth Schjøtt

Hagbarth Schjøtt (born May 9, 1894 in Bergen ; † September 9, 1994 there ) was a Norwegian businessman .

Life

Born in Bergen, Hagbarth Schjøtt, scion of an entrepreneurial family, son of the plant manager HE Schjøtt & Co , August Schjøtt and his wife Børrea Elisabeth nee Pedersen, received his education in England and in the United States . After he was employed in the family business in the following years, he founded his own company in Bryggen in 1926 , namely the textile factory trading under the name Hagbarth Schjøtt A / S , specializing in the manufacture of ready-to-wear clothing . The continuously expanding company, in which his younger brother Olvar Schjøtt was employed as a manager , employed 600 people in its peak period, and in 1993 it had to file for bankruptcy.

Hagbarth Schjøtt was also on the board of Norges Industriforbund . Schjøtt was married to Johannesen, born Borghild. This marriage had five children, including the resistance fighter during the German occupation of Norway and later businessman Hagbarth Schjøtt junior. After Hagbarth Schjøtt celebrated his 100th birthday in May 1994, he died in his hometown of Bergen in September of the same year.
