The Hahn-Schickard Society for Applied Research e. V. , based in Villingen-Schwenningen, is the sponsor of three research institutes in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The company emerged from the "Research Society for Watch and Fine Appliance Technology" founded in 1955 on the initiative of small and medium-sized companies in the watch industry in the Schwarzwald-Baar and Pforzheim areas and is now a renowned company in the field of microsystem technology. Since 1989, the society has borne the names of the Württemberg scientific greats Wilhelm Schickard (1592–1635) and Philipp Matthäus Hahn (1739–1790) as an expression of the close ties to the technological history of the state of Baden-Württemberg . The members are predominantly companies from Baden-Württemberg . In principle, any company can become a member of the Hahn-Schickard Society.
