Halberstadt poets' circle

The Halberstadt poets' circle was a group of young writers who were promoted in Halberstadt in the late 1760s and early 1770s by "Father Gleim" ( Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim ).

Among them were Johann Georg Jacobi - who in turn founded the Upper Rhine Poets' Circle - Johann Lorenz Benzler , Gottlob Nathanael Fischer , Leopold Friedrich Günther von Goeckingk , Wilhelm Heinse , Johann Benjamin Michaelis (1746–1772), Franz Alexander von Kleist and Klamer Eberhard Karl Schmidt .
