The Halfmoon Cove ( English for half moon bay ) is a side bay of the Admiralty Bay of King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located between Shag Point and Rakusa Point .
The bay got its descriptive name from the American ornithologists Wayne Z. Trivelpiece and Nicholas J. Volkman, who were visiting scientists at the Polish Arctowski Station from 1977 to 1978 .
