Halgadom is a German neofolk and pagan metal band, which was founded in the late 1990s by Frank Kraemer ( Stahlgewitter ) in Eitorf . For the Pagan Metal pieces Kraemer was partly supported by Sebastian Schauseil (ex- Absurd , Wolfsmond) with the vocals.

history

Halgadom was founded in 1999 by Frank Kraemer and the former Absurd member Sebastian Schauseil. The first self-titled album was recorded with a guest drummer and bassist Oliver von Frostkrieg. In 2001, Jan joined the company as a permanent drummer. With this line-up, a song was recorded for the sampler Freundeskreis der Heimatverbundenen Germanen .

In 2002, the second audio carrier, Darkening the Divine, was released . During the recording, the actual singer Lü had to be replaced, she was replaced by Michaela. Both women can be heard on the album. In contrast to the debut album, there are many Neofolk pieces on the album. Acoustic guitars were used instead of electric guitars, the vocals are clear and not distorted.

The album Sein und Werden was released in 2004. The album contains equal parts Neofolk and Metal pieces. With Eva, a new singer and violinist joined the band. Bass was played by Marcel Petri (Ill Sanity, Von Thronstahl , The Days of The Trumpet Call, Tyr-Kreis, Allerseelen , A Challenge of Honor).

In the same year a split EP with the band Frostkrieg and a sampler contribution for the compilation Mia Runa ( Steinklang Industries ) were released. Due to an intervention by the singer von Gegentum, another participant on the sampler who did not want to be associated with the band's political ties, Halgadom traded under the name Tyr-Kreis, actually another project by bassist Marcel Petri.

Sebastian Schauseil announced his departure from the band on March 21, 2006. As a new singer, Paul was accepted into the band by the NSBM band Leichenzug . In 2006 the album Sturmwoge was released together with Paul , which for the first time exclusively contains pagan metal pieces. The album entitled Heimstatt was released with delays in early 2008 . The album, which was actually announced in December 2007, is in contrast to Sturmwoge , so Heimstatt only contains Neofolk.

In the meantime the band expresses its political views less openly; "The earlier column 'Kulturkampf', in which the band commented on social issues, has disappeared since the beginning of the year [2008]" and with it, among other things, the designation of Christianity as a "foreign" belief with "degenerate content" or by anti-fascists as an " asocial fringe group". Kraemer also called his political views on the A-Blaze a private matter. Ella Weber wrote on the Internet against Nazis page : "A credible distance from right-wing extremism would look different."

In 2009 the album Wille: Tatkraft: Potential was released by the Sonnenkreuz Productions label . Except for the ambient intro, the death metal piece Ginnungagap and the instrumental piece Sang der Nornen , which is accompanied by violins, the album can be assigned to Pagan Metal.

After a break of six years, the band returned with a split CD with the Italian band Tears of Othila. The album was released on Frank Kraemer's label Sonnenkreuz.

Topic and political orientation

The lyrics are mainly about Nordic sagas of gods and heroes. Political statements rarely appear in the texts, although Kraemer and former member Sebastian Schauseil can clearly be assigned to the right-wing extremist scene. The only exception is the debut album, on which there are clear political statements: In the song “Wotan's Warriors”, the neo-Nazi 14 words are openly referred to, in “When the time is ripe” it is said that you should “red your blood ” and pure ” passed on. The name of the band Halgadom (sanctuary) is borrowed from the arisophic works of Guido von List .

In mid-2006, Theodor Fritsch's Handbuch der Judenfrage was quoted on the band page without indicating the takeover. Halgadom was featured on the neo-Nazi, so-called schoolyard CD "Adaptation is Cowardice".
