description
The market hall, which was originally supposed to be built by Gustave Eiffel , was built according to the plans of the architects Pesce and Lévesque. The rectangular building consists of a basement made of ashlar and an upper floor made of a visible steel structure with brick walls. The upper part and the roof consist of large glass surfaces. The arches of the steel structure are decorated with floral motifs. Below the roof approach runs a frieze made of 368 ceramic tiles depicting flowers, birds and products that are sold in the market hall. There are wrought iron portals on all four sides, which are also richly decorated.
