Halothamnus iranicus is a species of the genus Halothamnus from the foxtail family( Amaranthaceae ).
features
Halothamnus iranicus is a 45 cm high and 100 cm wide shrub with blue-green branches, the unpleasant smells of rancid butter. The leaves are linear to triangular-ovate and up to 11 mm long. The flowers are 2-5 mm apart on the branches and are 3.2-4.2 mm longer than their bracts and bracts , their tepals are narrow-ovoid. The scars are pointed at the top. The winged fruit reaches 7-11 mm in diameter, its wings are 1/3 of the fruit height. The fruit tube is almost cylindrical with a narrow, sharp-edged wall and small egg-shaped pits at the base.
Occurrence
Halothamnus iranicus is endemic to southern Iran and southwestern Pakistan (Balochistan). It grows in frost - free semi - deserts on rocky, stony, sometimes salty locations from 0 to 930 m above sea level.

The first description of Halothamnus iranicus Botsch. was made in 1981 by Viktor Petrovich Botschanzew .
