Cover sheet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In botany , a cover sheet (also Brakteole or Prophyll ) is the first or one of the first leaves on lateral axes . Pre-leaves often differ in their shape and position from the following leaves of the lateral axis. Most are low-leaves or bracts , rarely normal leaves. The lateral axis can be vegetative or a flower stalk. In the monocot there is a cover sheet, which is with the back (the underside of the leaf) to the axis of descent (adossed). The remaining Bedecktsamern (" dicotyledonous ") have two bracts that are transversely .

In English there is usually no distinction between cover sheet and carrier sheet . A further complicating factor is that a front sheet can also be the supporting sheet of a side shoot at the same time.
