The Halvfarryggen ( Norwegian for halfway back ) is a large and snowy mountain range on the Princess Martha coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It separates the Ekström Ice Shelf from the Jelbart Ice Shelf .
It was first mapped on the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952). The mountain range previously known as Isrygg (Norwegian for ice ridge ) received its final name during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956-1960).
