Hamal (also Hamel , Arabic الحمل, DMG al-ḥamal  'lamb'), also called Alpha Arietis in Latin ( α Arietis for short ), is a K2 giant in the constellation Aries . With an apparent visual magnitude of around 2.0  mag , it is the brightest star in this constellation.
