Hamburg Architecture Archive
The Hamburg Architecture Archive is a center set up and supported by the Hamburg Chamber of Architects for the documentation of Hamburg's architectural history . It has been in a historic warehouse in the Speicherstadt since 2007 and is open to the public.
Emergence
The Hamburg Chamber of Architects decided to set up the Hamburg Architecture Archive on October 24, 1984 after various similar efforts by public institutions had not led to success. Initially it was located at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg , where it was able to take over existing archive holdings. From 1989 the archive was located in the entrance building of the former Voss margarine factory in Barmbek . In 2007 the Hamburg Architecture Archive moved into the warehouse at Brooktorkai 4 and 5.
collection
The holdings of the Hamburg Architecture Archive are based on bequests and other donated holdings and include
- Documents from Hamburg architects and urban planners as well
- a collection of literature and journals on architecture and design .
A central core of the collection is the documentation of the reconstruction of Hamburg after the Second World War .

Publications
The Hamburg Architecture Archive publishes the series of publications from the Hamburg Architecture Archive. In addition, it also publishes publications together with other specialist institutions such as B. the architects and engineers association ( Hamburg and its buildings 1985-2000. Munich 1999).
