background

Albert F. Hammel and Hans Urban Johansen manufactured this vehicle around 1888. The year of construction cannot be precisely determined. The vehicle has been preserved. The restoration took place in 1952. Participation in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in 1954 made the vehicle known. The distance of 91 km was covered in 12 hours and 47 minutes. The vehicle is on display in the Danmarks Tekniske Museum in Helsingør .

vehicle

The vehicle has a two-cylinder engine with 104 mm bore , 160 mm stroke , 2718 cm³ displacement and around 3.5 hp , evaporative cooling and a surface carburetor. The motor is mounted in the rear and drives the rear axle via chains. The transmission is already provided with a reverse gear. The vehicle offers space for four people in the dos-à-dos seating arrangement, i.e. back to back. The steering is special because it reacts in opposite directions.
