Hammerer Aluminum Industries ( HAI for short ) is an Austrian processor of aluminum and is based in Braunau am Inn .

history

The company was founded in 2007 by taking over the extrusion and casting divisions from Austria Metall .

In 2009, a new foundry was built in Sântana , Romania , and production at HAI Santana SRL began the following year with a volume of around 80,000 tons per year. In 2010 the company was expanded to include a new production hall (processing) and it was put into operation the following year. In February 2010, Riftec GmbH , a market leader in friction stir welding based in Geesthacht , was taken over.

At the end of 2015, a new extrusion plant was taken over in Soest (Germany). The former Honsel plant is considered a pioneer in the field of lightweight construction in the automotive sector and enabled HAI to expand its market position.

At the beginning of 2016, LEAN Extrusions became part of the HAI Group and has since operated as a subsidiary specializing in precision and micro profiles, as well as high-gloss and decorative parts. At the end of 2016, investments were made in a new production line in Soest in order to expand the group's extrusion capacity to 75,000 tons per year, thereby strengthening the construction and industry divisions. The investment of € 12 million in the Soest location created 50 to 60 new jobs.

In 2017, HAI founded WestAluTec through a joint venture with the German family company Faulenbach Eloxal GmbH from Sprockhövel .

In 2018 the new company building of Riftec GmbH in Geesthacht took place , which offers an additional 2,500 m² of production space and 700 m² of office space for the company. In order to create new capacities, the aging 27 Meganewton (MN) press at the headquarters in Ranshofen in Austria was replaced by a modern, larger extrusion press with 41 MN. This went into operation at the beginning of 2019.

In 2019, a new 4,000 m² hall was built for a fully automated production line for high-end production lines at the Ranshofen location for the area of e-mobility .

In January 2020, Hammerer Aluminum Industries took over the Hydro site in Chisineu-Cris, Romania . With two extrusion presses, the new HAI location offers a production capacity of around 22,000 tons per year. The workforce grew to around 1,400 employees at a total of seven locations as a result of the acquisition.

The HAI Group was expanded in 2020 with a majority stake in the stretch bending and subcontracting specialist ASP . The company ASP , headquartered in Attendorn, Germany , had previously been a subcontractor and supplier of stretch bending devices for Hammer Aluminum Industries for many years . Around 250 employees at the location in Glogow (Poland) produce aluminum components with a sales volume of approx. 12 million euros per year for the automotive and rehabilitation industries.

Company profile

The aluminum processor follows the motto:

"All from a single source."

- Hammerer Aluminum Industries

The company hereby refers to the entire value chain, from casting to finishing.

In the HAI Casting, scrap is largely processed in order to conserve resources. The aluminum bolts are checked for inclusions and surface cracks via ultrasonic testing . At the two casting locations in Ranshofen (Austria) and Sântana (Romania), up to 220,000 tons of pressed and rolled billets and two-piece ingots are produced annually.

In the area of extrusion , Hammerer Aluminum Industries offers 15 standard and special alloys. The press cross-sections range from 40 g to> 40 kg per meter.

Due to the possibility of mechanical further processing in the company, entire parts and components can be manufactured in HAI Processing. Dimensions of up to 20 × 4 × 1.6 m are processed by milling, sawing, drilling, bending, punching and welding. HAI enables a continuous value chain through development partnerships . The core technology is friction stir welding (FSW - Friction Stir Welding), which guarantees the highest seam quality.

The products of the HAI Group can be found in the construction sector, in automotive and transport technology, electrical engineering, in mechanical and plant engineering and in aviation as well as in medical technology.
