Hamoud Ubad

Hamoud Muhammad Ubad ( Arabic حمود عباد, DMG Ḥammūd ʿUbād ) is a Yemeni politician. Since March 14, 2011, he has been Minister of Endowments & Guidance of the Republic of Yemen under the presidency of Ali Abdullah Salih , in this case within the meaning of Waqf , and religious instruction .

Political career

Since April 5, 2007 he was previously Minister for Youth and Sport. He had already held the office of Minister of Endowments & Guidance before the 2006 presidential elections and was chairman of the Committee on Pilgrimages to Mecca for Yemeni Citizens. When the government was formed in 2007, only three ministers retained their portfolio. When the new government was formed on December 8, 2011, he retained his post as Minister of Endowments & Guidance.

During his tenure as Minister for Youth and Sports, there were cooperation agreements and expansion with Saudi Arabia and other Muslim states such as Kuwait , Oman , Algeria , Tunisia , the United Arab Emirates and Egypt as well as the Palestinian Territories , India , France and the United States Kingdom and UNICEF . In addition, Yemen was awarded the 2010 Golf Cup soccer tournament during his tenure .

After the Yemeni national team in chess at the Chess Olympiad in 2010 in the Siberian Khanty-Mansiysk was lost in the first round against Israel, UBAD Yemen withdrew from the Chess Olympiad. Since Yemeni chess officials had talked to the Israeli delegation at the Olympics, he suspended the board of the Yemeni Chess Association and all national players and threatened punishment. Yemen lost the first round encounter without a fight, but played the Chess Olympiad to the end.
