The 20th Golf Cup took place from November 22nd to December 5th, 2010 in the Yemeni port city of Aden . Winner of the football tournament was Kuwait with a 1: 0-final victory against Saudi Arabia . For Kuwait it was the tenth title win in the competition.

Host

Yemen has been participating in the Golf Cup since 2003. It is the only participating country that is not a country bordering the Persian Gulf. In January 2007, the country was chosen to host the 20th edition of the tournament. The tournament budget was $ 300 million.

In the run-up to the event, there were concerns about the hosting of the tournament in Yemen. The main criticism was the unstable security situation in the country , which has been the target of frequent attacks recently. Three days after the group stage draw, a separatist group in the south of the country called on the Gulf States to boycott the tournament. On October 23, 2010, Yemeni security forces thwarted a bomb attack in Aden. For its part, the Yemeni government said it would deploy 30,000 soldiers to protect the event.
