Golf Cup 1990

The 10th Golf Cup took place in Kuwait from February 21 to March 9, 1990 . All games were played in the Al-Sadaqua Walsalam Stadium (German: Friendship and Peace Stadium).

Saudi Arabia refused to take part in the tournament. The reason given was the annoyance about the logo of the tournament. According to the Saudi view, the horses depicted in the logo were an allusion to the Battle of Jahra in 1919. In this battle, Kuwaitis had asserted themselves against Saudis. The Iraq withdrew during the tournament because he is a referee decision in the match against the United Arab Emirates had annoyed.

The winner of the tournament was host Kuwait .

Explanation

The Golf Cup (Arabic: Ka's al-Khalidsch) is a football tournament and has been held every two years since 1970. Participants are the national soccer teams of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council , Yemen (GCC candidate country) and Iraq, Iraq was excluded from the tournament between 1992 and 2004.
