Hanami (event)

The Hanami (from Japanese 花 見, to look at blossoms) is an annual, two-day event for Manga and Anime fans ( Anime Convention ) in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . It is run by the Animexx e. V. organizes and, with around 4500 visitors, is one of the major German events on the subject of Japan , Anime and Manga .

The Hanami first took place in 2006 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Since then it has been held annually on the first weekend in May. Until 2011 it took place in the cultural center "das Haus", since then, due to lack of space, in the Pfalzbau 200 meters away . The number of visitors rose from around 400 in 2006 to around 5,200 in 2012.

The preliminary round of the German Cosplay Championship has been taking place on the Hanami since 2008 . In 2010 a maiden café was added.

The event sponsors include a. Japan Airlines and Universum Film GmbH .
