Animexx e. V. is an association founded on January 30, 2000 in Munich , which is committed to promoting Japanese popular culture , especially manga and anime . The association has been a member of the Association of German-Japanese Societies since May 2, 2008 .

development

The Animexx e. V. emerged from the merger of two clubs: the “1. Sailor Moon Online Fanclub "( SMOF ) and the" Animangai ". The SMOF was officially founded on August 1st, 1997 and in September 1998 organized one of the first ever Germany-wide anime conventions , the Neo Moon Project '98 in Zorneding near Munich. The Animangai was founded on January 1st, 1999 and published the club magazine "Tsunami", which later became part of the Animexx.

Size and program

The Animexx e. V. currently has around 870 club members and around 55,000 online club members worldwide (as of November 2019).

Online offer

The Animexx website, which is one of the largest German-language manga and anime sites, covers the following areas:

  • Information about the association
  • Information on animes, mangas and J-Rock / J-Pop , especially publication lists for the German market
  • A fanwork area where fans can display fanarts , fanfics , dōjinshi and photos from anime conventions for free
  • General functions of an online community such as user profiles (called “profiles”), user weblogs , an Internet forum and role-playing games
  • So-called “circles” in which members organize themselves according to their own interests
  • An event calendar, which was published in a revised version in January 2019
  • Opportunities to organize events yourself via the site

The site was until 31 October 2006 4Players hosted by 28 December 2017 online worlds . The site is currently hosted privately.

The association is also the publisher of the online magazine animePRO.

Meetings and events

In addition to numerous monthly meetings throughout the German-speaking region, the association has been organizing the annual Connichi anime convention since 2002 , initially in May in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and since 2003 in September in Kassel (2018: 27,000 daily visitors in 3 days). From 2003 to 2005 the publisher Egmont Manga & Anime was involved as a sponsor and co-organizer at Connichi . Other anime conventions sponsored by the association are the Hanami in Ludwigshafen (since 2006), the YukiCon in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen (since 2004), the J-Con (2004 as The Con , 2006, 2008) in Merzig and since 2009 the Animuc in Fürstenfeldbruck. In addition, the association was also the sponsor of the Conneko in Ludwigshafen from 2003 to 2004.

The club's own magazine was initially the tsunami until it was closed in early 2004 . It was replaced by FUNime , which was the joint magazine of the Animexx and Anime no Tomodachi associations until the end of 2008 .

German cosplay championship

The club is one of the two sponsors of the German Cosplay Championship and is responsible for regional decisions .

Print products

The association regularly publishes print products, including:

  • One fanart calendar per year (since 2003)
  • The dōjinshi anthology Manga-Mixx (since 2006), including various special volumes
  • Dōjinshi single volumes
  • In collaboration with Egmont Manga & Anime three editions of the dojinshi anthology "Shinkan Special" (2003 to 2005) (replaced by Manga-Mixx)
  • Animexx postcards (since 2008)
