David Füleki (* 1985 ) is a German comic artist , illustrator and non-fiction author .

Career

David Füleki first completed a bachelor's and then a master's degree in media communication at the TU Chemnitz . He has been working as a cartoonist and freelance illustrator since completing his studies, sometimes even while he was still studying. Together with Roy Seyfert, he founded the Delfinium Prints publishing house in 2008, for which, among other things, he works as a draftsman and editor. In 2005 he won the comic book competition of the now discontinued Banzai magazine ! and in 2008 the comic duel of the Comicgate magazine at the Erlangen Comic Salon . He has also received awards from the ICOM Independent Comic Prize and is the winner of the Sondermann 2011, which he received for his series Entoman , and the PENG! Prize for his series 78 Days on the Road of Hate . In 2016 he was nominated for the first time for the Max and Moritz Prize , the most important award for comics in German-speaking countries. In this context, the Tagesspiegel calls him "one of the best and most productive German comic authors of his generation" and adds, referring to his nominated work 78 Days on the Street of Hate : "Füleki [...] masters his craft as a draftsman and as a narrator. Beneath the surface of the "most senseless slaughter in the world" (publisher advertising), he proves to be a self-deprecating master of the meta levels and in almost every scene reveals a deep understanding of the possibilities of the comic art form. "

He has published for the publishers Carlsen Comics , Tokyopop , Zwerchfell Verlag , GRIN Verlag , New Ground Publishing, Delfinium Prints and the manga anthology Shounen Go! Go! . The politically oriented comic series sideways has been published in the SPD party magazine Vorwärts since 2011 . Since 2012 he has been working on the weekly newspaper comic Der Schlaufuchs , which appears in the Fuldaer Zeitung and is primarily aimed at a younger audience. Also since 2012, he is known as Letterer in the project Notfunny involved, the English-language version of Joscha Sauer's Not Funny .
