Media communication

Media communication is an interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary course of study that is to be located at the interface between psychology, computer science, communication science and business administration.

The course has been offered at the Technical University of Chemnitz since 2000 , at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg since 2010 and at the RWTH Aachen University since 2014 with the degrees of Bachelor and Master . All courses are based on empirical social sciences, but the Würzburg course shows a preference for quantitative methods and, in contrast to other media courses, concludes with a Bachelor or Master of Science.

Course content

The course teaches media skills from different perspectives of individual disciplines and qualifies for very different media-related professional fields. The following course contents are u. a. covered: communication, communication psychology, media science, media production and analysis, media psychology, media sociology, media didactics, instruction psychology, media informatics, media practice, media technology, methods of media research and economy, marketing, advertising. The course also includes an internship in an organization in the IT and media industry and concludes with a bachelor's or master's thesis.

Admission requirements

Admission to the course requires a general university entrance qualification . As a degree program with restricted admission , the application is made directly to the university, the selection of students then takes place according to certain quotas (e.g. according to the degree of qualification, waiting time, etc.).
