Theater mar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Theater Mär is a Hamburg drama theater for children. Its symbol is a red clothespin , which has been used in every piece that has been produced in-house since it was first staged.

The theater

It was founded in 1990 by the two actors Ania Michaelis and Peter Markhoff . Markhoff is the head of the independent ensemble. The original intention was mainly to dramatize and play fairy tales , but since the turn of the millennium the stage has specialized in productions for children aged 3 and over based on well-known picture books. Since 2009 the theater has been bringing two of its plays - "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "The Queen of Colors" - also in English to primary schools and kindergartens. In 2009 it organized the series of performances “Theaterminis - the stage for the very youngest of the city” together with the Altona Theater .

Venues

The Mär Theater does not have its own venue. However, it regularly appears at Christmas time with all its plays in the Altona Theater and is otherwise on tour throughout Germany as a touring stage. It is played in city theaters, cultural centers, churches, schools, kindergartens and in the open air. For the Goethe-Institut , theater also went beyond Europe. Organized by this, there have been performances of the play "The Queen of Colors" since 2002 in Turkey, Serbia, France, Japan, Spain, Bolivia, Israel, Latvia, Macedonia and Poland.
