Hancheng ( 韩 城市 , Hánchéng Shì ) is an independent city in the independent city of Weinan in the Chinese province of Shaanxi . In 2004 it had 390,000 inhabitants.

In Hancheng are the Zhou-period Liangdaicun site, the tomb and the ancestral temple of Sima Qian from the time of the Western Han dynasty , the Song- period Fawang temple , Yuan- period temples such as the Dayu temple , the Puzhao- Temple , the Beiying Temple , the Jiulang Temple , the Qingshan Temple with its Great Buddha and the Sanqing Hall for viewing the purple clouds , Ming- era temples such as the Confucian Temple of Hancheng , the City God Temple of Hancheng and the Jade Emperor Earth God Temple , and the Qing- era Yuxiu Bridge , all of which, along with the Ming and Qing- era architecture of Dangjiacun, are on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China .
