The Saarland Chamber of Crafts is one of 53 chambers of crafts in the Federal Republic of Germany with its seat in the Saarland state capital Saarbrücken . She is a member of the Interregional Council of the Chamber of Crafts Saar-Lor-Lux. Like all chambers of crafts, the Saarland Chamber of Crafts is a corporation under public law .

Advocacy

One of the central tasks of the Saarland Chamber of Crafts is to represent the interests of the Saarland crafts on all political levels. She sits down z. B. in all questions about the economic situation, regional development, education policy, future technologies, the environment and the European internal market for the interests of the craft. With around 11,900 member companies, it is one of the largest self-governing institutions in the Saarland economy. The chamber represents around 60,300 people who work in the Saarland trade. It takes on public tasks such as keeping the trade directory and the apprenticeship role as well as exams in vocational training and further education. Every year around 6,000 apprentices receive their journeyman's certificate from the Saarland Chamber of Crafts. Its certified training and further education facilities such as the Saarland School of Masters and Technicians (SMTS), which is run by the Chamber of Crafts, or the inter-company competence centers (metal information and communication technology, wellness) form the basis for trained specialists and managers in the trade.

history

In 1900, Saarbrücken became the seat of the “Chamber of Crafts for the Prussian Administrative Region Trier and the Grand Ducal Oldenburg Principality of Birkenfeld” on the basis of the Craftsmen Act of July 26, 1897. Today's Chamber of Crafts of the Saarland emerged from it.
