Hank Shermann in the 80s

Hank Shermann (born July 11, 1958 , real name Rene Krolmark ) is a Danish guitarist . He became known with the band Mercyful Fate .

Career

In March 1977, Shermann was determined to become a guitarist out of his admiration for Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley . In his first band Brats , which was formed in May 1978, he was still called Hank De Wank. The Punk - Metal 1980 band Brats released their only album in 1980 . She became Mercyful Fate in 1981 via the Danger Zone. After two studio albums Shermann left the band after there had been differences between him and singer King Diamond about the further musical development. He joined the Copenhagen formation Maxim, which was just looking for a guitarist. They wanted to capitalize on the fame of Mercyful Fate and their dropout and renamed the completed band Fate . After a demo tape that EMI found to be good, two albums were created, for a third Shermann (shortened to Fate: Sherman) had already worked on the songs, but had not recorded them anymore. The reason for the separation was the revived desire for harder music. Together with guitarist Michael Denner , who previously also played with Mercyful Fate, Shermann founded the band Zoser Mez , which released their only album Vizier of Wasteland in 1991 . In 1993 Shermann returned to Mercyful Fate and is still part of the band to this day. In addition to this band, Shermann also belongs to the groups Force of Evil and Demonica . In spring 2012 he completed the band Volbeat for their North American tour in the opening act for Megadeth . Together with Mercyful Fate guitarist Michael Denner, he did the same at the Wacken Open Air 2012. In February 2015, Shermann and Denner announced that they had founded a joint project called Denner / Shermann. The band's drummer is Snowy Shaw , who worked for Sabaton and Dimmu Borgir , among others .
