Hannah Van Buren (born March 8, 1783 in Kinderhook , New York ; † February 5, 1819 in Albany ; née Hoes ) was the wife of the future American President Martin Van Buren from 1807 until her death in 1819 . Van Buren was a member of the New York Senate when she died .

Van Buren came from a family of Dutch Americans . Her parents were Johannes Dircksen Hoes (1753–1789) and Maria Quakenbush (1754–1852). Hannah grew up with her future husband Martin, who was a 2nd degree uncle as the son of her great aunt , in Kinderhook, which was still heavily influenced by Dutch and where Dutch was spoken. They were married on February 22, 1807 in Catskill , New York, on the estate of Hannah's brother-in-law. Little is known about Hannah, since she hardly mentioned Martin Van Buren in his surviving correspondence and autobiography.

Hannah and Martin van Buren had four children. Hannah died of tuberculosis at the age of 35. Hannah Van Buren was buried in Kinderhook. Martin Van Buren did not remarry and was one of the few presidents who was unmarried during her presidency.
