Hannes Artner

Hannes Artner (born November 5, 1984 in Oberwart ) is a former Austrian basketball player .

career

Artner, a 1.84 meter tall construction player, made the jump from the youth of the Oberwart Gunners  to the Bundesliga team. Later he also became an Austrian team player. Going back to his hometown Riedlingsdorf near Oberwart , Artner was nicknamed "onion" in basketball circles when he was young. In 2011 he won the first Austrian championship title in club history with Oberwart.

 Artner, who works as a police officer in Vienna , left the Oberwart Gunners in 2015 for professional reasons and played for another year at UBC Mattersburg in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 2015/16 season he was the Mattersburg's top scorer and retired from competitive sports in 2016.
