Hannes Maxwald

Hannes Maxwald (born December 6, 1968 in Attnang-Puchheim ) is a former motorcycle racer .

He received his first license in 1983 on an 80 cc motocross at the KTM Cup. Two years later the first race victory followed in Imbach and also the overall KTM Cup victory. In the 1985 OSK Cup he was second overall in the 80 cm³ class, tied with Rupi Walkner , but had one victory less. In 1990 he switched from cross to road racing. He drove a Suzuki GSX-R model 88 that he had borrowed from a friend. In the winter of 1990/91 he completed a training course (dirt track) with Kenny Roberts sr. in the USA. In 1991 he rode a Yamaha with a Bartol Kit in the 250cc class and came third at the Austrian championships. At the European Championships in Salzburg , he managed a 7th place. From January to February 1992 he again spent 6 weeks with Kenny Roberts in the USA. In 1995 he entered Enduro with a KTM 250 EXC. He became Austrian Enduro Champion in 1995, 1996 and 1997. At the Six Days 1997 in Italy, he won a silver medal. He had his first Supermoto contact in 1996 with Klaus Kinigadner and Beat Gautschi at the A-1 ring. A year later he completed his first supermoto race on a 380 KTM with a motocross brake system and Pirelli MT 60 tires.

Hannes Maxwald ended his 25-year motorsport career at the end of 2007 with his fifth supermoto national championship title, his third in a row. He won all of his national championship titles, both in enduro and supermoto sports on products from the Austrian manufacturer KTM.
